Look whats growing out of the chimney of Lord Hall. Poor building suffers from so much neglect.
Taken at the top deck of the cruise ship in 2002, Nassau is another beautiful destination. Anyone can seem like a photographer when they have something this delightful to capture.
How about some pretty scenery? I took this photo on a cruise I took in 2003. You have never seen water so blue as when you are out in the middle of the ocean.

This is an image I took while driving. Probably not one of the safest things I've done, but I enjoy the results.

Tuesday, February 26, 2008

Another revisited image. I felt the original just lacked something. Here's a variation of it with a more liquefying feel. It flows and feels more complete.

Monday, February 25, 2008

Same series as the last. The symmetry in this photo is probably the quality I most enjoy.

Tuesday, February 19, 2008

There is some aspect about photographing myself that really gets my artistic flow going. Hah. My whole objective during this shoot was to sort of lose myself behind the camera. Pose in what felt most natural and comfortable.

Saturday, February 16, 2008

Just felt like messing around in photoshop this morning. I decided to throw a layer mask on, desaturate, and brush in everything but the figure in the image.

Friday, February 15, 2008

Revisiting some earlier work posted. I came across this shot and thought I might include it as well. I'm intrigued by the results of putting myself in front of this laser light device. What the hell happened there with my left arm?

Wednesday, February 13, 2008

More work from the last series. I enjoy the symmetry. I was going for a primitive raw feel with the entire series. Simplistic and dark.

Tuesday, February 12, 2008

Nifty. My layering explorations continue.
A bit closer up here. Try to see my eyes. It is intentionally that you cannot make out any detail around the eyes. Black as all black.
No photoshop work whatsoever. Just me, some blacklights, a bit of highlighter, and my camera. I have a fascination with the experimentation of various light sources, and the sometimes formidable task of finding the appropriate corresponding shutter and aperture.

Saturday, February 9, 2008

I enjoy the lighting in this one. It was difficult to find the right aperture and shutter setting for these. More to come tomorrow.

Friday, February 8, 2008

One more time. Aren't blacklights fantastic?
Let's step back from the previous image.
Why does the water glow I wonder?

Thursday, February 7, 2008

This is a variation of the last image. I lost track of how many layers I was working with.

Wednesday, February 6, 2008

Can you believe this started out as an image of my home computer? It did. Experimentation at work.
One of my favorite night shots taken thus far. It was taken on Polaris Parkway, and it was cold and windy as all hell. I panned the camera in the direction of oncoming traffic during a few second exposure to capture this beauty.

Monday, February 4, 2008

Night shot. I adore images such as this.

Sunday, February 3, 2008

Refreshing. I used a shiny stainless steel bowl, added a few drops of food coloring, a quick shutter speed, and here we are.

Friday, February 1, 2008

Same shooting as the last. Everything about this image feels relaxing to me. That's why I enjoy it so much.

Wednesday, January 30, 2008

I'm moving my entire body around here on a longer exposure. It looks almost whimsical.
Another guitar post. This is a beautiful sounding guitar. Half the reason I like it so much.

And here is a simplified version of the last one. You can see the progress at work.
I actually built the last image with a variation of this one.

Friday, January 25, 2008

Here I've taken probably upwards of 20 images and layered them. Just enjoyed the results.

Thursday, January 24, 2008

I flipping love long exposures. The remote I purchased for my camera was a superb investment.

Wednesday, January 23, 2008

Here we have my friend playing some acoustic guitar.

Tuesday, January 22, 2008

Just something I found on my hard drive. I created this little collage way back in high school. I still enjoy it though. I scanned in some of the old records (not cds mind you) and created this.

Monday, January 21, 2008

Combined layers of two different photos. Boosted up the contrast, made a custom gradient map and applied that. Grim feel is what I was going for. Goes with the whole content I suppose.

I've staged a suicide-like scene here. Just one of my most liked photos out of the series.
This is a compilation of images. The concept has to do with the association of molecules. Building blocks of life. It's when an image of a molecule is layered with confusion and noise that things become so distorted. And I chose warm colors to emphasize the quality of life for this image.

In the same shoot as the last photo posted. I really enjoy the lighting in this one.

Used a worker spotlight and a tripod with camera on timer.

Tuesday, January 15, 2008

Here, I've taken a laser light show device shot at the wall with myself in it. Extended shutter exposure again.

Its as if my hand is melting into the wall.

Is that me?

This part of the earlier shoot with some manipulation.

Sunday, January 13, 2008

This is a variation of the last image. Sort of some photoshop fun. I layered the image with itself and inverted it.

I shot some photos with extended exposures here. I took a powerful keychain light and set a 10-15 second shutter, and this was one of the results. Free flowing with high contrast. Good deal.

This image expresses some of the frustrations I've been feeling. Quite literally, being trapped. It's as if I can see the direction I need to go and I can't step through the damn doorway. It's dark to convey the cynical and somewhat grim qualities the piece reveals, and I keep my head lowered as if I'm hesitant to take the next step.
